RJ Shontz

Math & Statistics Tutor

Hello, my name is RJ Shontz. I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am currently a math major with a focus on systems analysis and a minor in statistics at Penn State. My passion for numbers and problem-solving has driven me to pursue a career related to mathematics. Recently, I completed an internship as a finance intern in Dublin with Applegreen, which was an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience while exploring a new culture. I love traveling and want it to be a bigger part of my life—I’ve visited eight different countries so far, and I’m eager to see more of the world. In high school, I was an active member of the cross-country and track teams, where I developed a strong sense of discipline and perseverance. These qualities have continued to guide me through my college years. At Penn State, I’m involved in Alpha Kappa Psi, a business fraternity, and Alpha Phi Omega, a service organization. Outside of academics, you can find me playing pickleball, hiking, or eating out with my friends! These experiences have shaped who I am today, and I am excited to see where they’ll take me in the future. I am proud to be a part of the Tierney Education team and help students understand mathematics.
