RJ Shontz

Math & Statistics Tutor

RJ Shontz is a math major with a focus on systems analysis and a minor in statistics at Penn State. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his passion for numbers and problem-solving has driven him to pursue a career in mathematics. Recently, he completed an internship as a finance intern in Dublin with Applegreen, gaining valuable hands-on experience while exploring a new culture. RJ loves traveling and has visited eight different countries, with plans to explore even more of the world. In high school, he was an active member of the cross-country and track teams, where he developed a strong sense of discipline and perseverance, qualities that continue to guide him through his college years. At Penn State, he is involved in Alpha Kappa Psi, a business fraternity, and Alpha Phi Omega, a service organization. Outside of academics, RJ enjoys playing pickleball, hiking, and dining out with friends. These experiences have shaped who he is today, and he is excited to see where they will take him in the future. RJ is proud to be a part of the Tierney Education team and is eager to help students understand mathematics.
